Honeywell or Henex? Which scanner to choose

Scanners 2 min read

Two scanner brands we supply and service ourselves. Here is which one we recommend for the checkout, the warehouse and replacing an old scanner.

by POS Kosova · Reviewed on

The short answer

For most checkouts, shops and warehouses we recommend Henex: Henex 2D scanners read 1D and 2D barcodes, checkout models such as the HC-3208 and H2200 also read QR codes from phones, and we back them fully in Prishtina, with service and original parts in stock. We choose Honeywell when your company has standardised on Honeywell or when you are adding devices to an existing fleet.

Why Henex for most businesses

  • Reads what the checkout needs: 1D and 2D barcodes, and on models such as the HC-3208 and H2200 also QR codes from a phone screen.
  • Holds up in daily use: in our experience, Henex scanners stand up well to the daily work of checkouts and warehouses.
  • Full support in Kosovo: POS Kosova is the exclusive Henex distributor for Kosovo and the authorized Henex service — repairs with original parts.
  • Parts in stock: we keep original Henex parts in stock in Prishtina, so a repair does not wait on an order from abroad.

When Honeywell

Honeywell is a well-known global brand and the standard in many large companies. We recommend it when your company — or your head office — already works with Honeywell and you want the same device and the same settings at every location. We supply, configure and repair Honeywell scanners too; you will find them on the Honeywell page.

Scenarios

  • A market with several checkouts: a Henex HC-3208 at every till, and an H2200 desktop where customers show coupons or loyalty cards on their phones.
  • A warehouse with inventory: Henex H310RC or HC-4208R wireless; the H900 for dusty areas or where drops are frequent.
  • The old Metrologic scanner has stopped working: if it is worth it, we repair it. Otherwise, in our experience many customers move to Henex — we set it up exactly like the old one (Enter after each scan, the barcode types), so the till software works as before.
  • Head office requires Honeywell: we supply and configure the Honeywell model required.

The most common mistakes

  • Choosing by brand name instead of by the job the scanner has to do.
  • Buying a scanner with no service or parts in Kosovo.
  • Replacing an old scanner without copying its settings — the till stops at the first scan.
